Shipping Policy
West Elm uses a few different shipping service providers to deliver their orders within the time frame specified. Buyers in the lower 48 states have the option of next day delivery but the delivery in Alaska and the US territories are fixed. They also have some surcharges on certain delivery items and if next day delivery is chosen.
Shipping Types
West Elm ships to all 50 states and buyers in the lower 48 states can choose standard delivery or next day delivery. Additionally, West Elm also ships internationally unless the package is oversized, contains materials prohibited to pass through customs like food, botanical and aerosol products. There are also some restrictions on licensing across international borders, so these licensed items may not be delivered. Some items that are delivered by in-home delivery offered by the site cannot be shipped internationally as well.
West Elm also has websites for their UK and Australian businesses which can be accessed by residents of those countries to order items. Buyers will automatically be redirected to these sites when ordering online.
In the continental states, the items should arrive in 5 business days and if next day delivery is chosen and the order is placed by 6pm Pacific Time, the item will be delivered the next day. Deliveries to Alaska take 5 business days and an additional 10 dollar charge is levied. The charge is levied on deliveries to US territories as well where delivery can take up to 15 business days. Some oversized items cannot be shipped to Hawaii as there are UPS weight limits that prohibit these.
In-home delivery is also available and this involves the item being unpacked and assembled in the buyers home. In-home deliveries are done during weekdays from Tuesday to Saturday but Monday deliveries are available in some areas. A special quick shipping option is also available for some upholstered items in some cities and it takes 1 to 3 weeks for delivery. Special order items are those that are not marked with a Quick Ship icon on the website and these take up to 10 weeks to be delivered.

Where does the merchant ship?
West Elm ships to all states within U.S. This includes American Samoa, Federated States of Micronesia, Guam, Marshall Islands, Northern Mariana Islands, U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and Palau.
Additionally, they also ship to international destinations but some countries have limits on the size of parcels that can be shipped internationally and other restrictions, so these orders will be canceled and the money refunded. Residents in Australia and the UK can order directly from the West Elm websites in their country.
Return Policy
West Elm offers a return guarantee if items are returned within 30 days of delivery for any reason. Buyers wishing to return items can send an email to West Elm customer service, call or fax them. They can opt for a store credit or replacement. The buyers are responsible for the shipping charges when returning items in some cases. These policies only apply to US deliveries and international returns are handled by the call center that has to authorize the return.
