31 Years of Farm Aid + The Top 10 Songs by Farm Aid Artist

Farm Aid will be entering its 31st year this Saturday September 17th in Bristow, Virginia. The first concert ever held was organized by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp in 1985. Over time Farm Aid has grown and other musicians have joined forces with this cause. In 2001, Dave Matthews joined the Board of Directors. The main goal of Farm Aid is to raise money to help keep family run farms going and to bring attention to the fact that many families are losing their farms.

Farm Aid is a nonprofit organization, that has raised fifty million dollars since it's incarnation. Farm Aid is doing many things to increase awareness about the issues farmers face. The main event being their yearly concert, which brings together farmers, artist and anyone else interested in supporintg the cause. Throughout the year they also continue their campaign by creating inspiring and informative events for tv, radio, mail, and the web.

Farm Aid believes that farmers are a vital part of their communities. They are doing everything they can to help create more opportunities for the farmers to reach more people within their local and regional markets. Farm Aid helps in connecting farmers with grocery stores, restaurants, schools and many other establishments. They also work with family farms to protest factory farms and raise awareness about eating genetically modified food.

If things continue along the path that they have been taking, family farms will eventually disappear, the quality of our food will degrade and factory farms will leaving lasting effects on our environment. Family farmers are working to protect the soil, air, water, and a way of life that promotes producing healthy food. If you can, go and check out this year's concert to help support these farmers.
